How does it work?

Teeth whitening is performed using either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide further activated by cool LED lights. When the gel is applied to a person’s teeth, the peroxide breaks down into oxygen molecules that work effectively to go inside the teeth and break down stains that sit inside the pores of tooth enamel and dentin, effectively bleaching the teeth. How long does it last?

This varies from person to person and depends on your diet and lifestyle, but the effects usually last for 3 months to a 1 year. Periodic touch-up treatments are recommended for clients who consume coffee or other staining foods and drinks frequently or for those who use tobacco products.

All systems recommend home maintenance. Ivory Teeth Whitening recommends using our home whitening products every two- six weeks or when the teeth begin to discolor. We also recommend using home whitening kits after a whitening sessions for 2-5 days to whiten the teeth further and maintain the results longer.

Who can undergo the Treatment?

Ivory Teeth whitening produces dramatic whitening results for anyone who want to whiten his or her teeth. This includes people with teeth that have been stained by smoking or by substances such as coffee or tea. Pregnant or lactating women or clients under 16 years of age should not receive this treatment

Will it whiten my existing crowns or veneers?

Whitening treatments can only whiten natural teeth and cannot change the color of porcelain crowns, veneers, or fillings beyond the original color they were matched at.

How white will my teeth be after the treatment?

Whitening results can vary by individual depending on the severity and nature of your stains. Ivory whitening treatment will be tailored to produce the best whitening results possible. Talking to your aesthetician about your expectations from the treatment and them in designing the appropriate whitening schedule to meet your individual needs. A visit produces an improvement of 5-10+ shades for most people with an average of 7+ shades whiter during our 1 hour whitening sessions. The more stained your teeth are, the more dramatic the results.

When not to whiten?


Teeth should not be treated with whitening agents if roots are completely exposed, during ill health, wearing braces, recent oral surgery, any problems with the gums, or any suspicious areas that should require dental supervision. Ivory Whitening always recommends seeing your dentist twice a year for checkups and cleanings.

Can teeth whitening services be offered when pregnant?

Some of the product will be swallowed during the teeth whitening procedure. The bleaching gels on the fetus is unknown. Keeping this in mind, whitening is not advised pregnancy in order to minimize any possible risks to the health of the fetus.

Why use home kits or strips?

All systems recommend home maintenance. Home kits will help you maintain your whiter smile. Ivory Whitening recommends using the home trays every two- six weeks or when the teeth begin to discolor and for up to 5 days following the whitening session. Using the take home kits will help to continue whitening a maintain the results.

Maintenance

It only takes twenty four hours for plaque that is not removed from your teeth to turn into calculus (tartar)! Daily home cleaning helps control plaque and tartar formation, but those hard to reach areas will always need special attention. Ivory Whitening recommends daily care, but encourages you to see your dental professional about maintenance regiments. Ivory can also provide you with a home maintenance kit.

Good oral hygiene practices and periodontal cleanings are essential in maintaining dental health and keeping periodontal disease under control! Ivory also recommends the following after care procedures (these recommendations are also provided to you after your procedure):

What to Avoid in the Following 24 to 48 Hours After the Procedure:

Beverages: Coffee, Tea, Red Wine, Dark Colored Sodas
Foods: Dark Foods such as Berries, Beets, and Chocolate
Activities: Smoking, Chewing Tobacco, and Even Swimming
TIPS: If the food or beverage would stain your new white tablecloth it can inhibit your PearlWhite results in the first 24 hours.

On Going Maintenance Tips:

Regular Dental Visits: Professional Dental Consultation and or Cleaning at Least Once or Twice a Year*
Use a Straw: Next time you reach for the cup of coffee or soda, try to use a straw. Same flavor, less damage to your Pearly Whites!
Quit Smoking!: Yeah, easier said than done, but keeping a whiter smile is one more reason to ditch the pack.
After Care Products: Make sure to maintain your regular dental care routine. Ivory recommends using a whitening toothpaste and mouthwash along with our Home whitening kits to maintain your white smile!

It is usually recommended that you see your dental professional twice a year. At these cleaning appointments, the pocket depths will be carefully checked to ensure that they are healthy. Plaque and calculus that is difficult for you to remove on a daily basis will be removed from above and below the gum line.
